Relation between Energy Efficiency and GHG Emissions in Drying Units Using Forest Biomass

The impacts of climate change are inevitable and driven by increased levels greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere, requiring mitigation re-adaptation measures. In this context, article critically analyzes influence drying technology type, forest biomass, GHG emissions resulting from energy required for agricultural crops, presenting a case study tobacco drying. study, increasing technological level unit (curing units CUs), using E. saligna dunnii firewood Pinus sp. pellets, was evaluated; considering consumption efficiency, concentration gas (CO, CO2, CXHY NOX), as well emission factors tCO₂-eq. results showed that when CUs, there is decrease fuel emissions. reduction can reach 60.28% amount biomass consumed 67.06% tCO₂-eq; scenario production crop, CU with continuous load (Chongololo) dunnii. use pellets proved to be efficient, lowest more CUs.
